IC3S/ACE APPLICATIONS:

In today’s telecommunications environment, with its high concentration of special circuits and the demand for both better service and lower costs; REMOTE SWITCH SYSTEMS offers you the edge you need to handle all your cross-connection tasks. REMOTE SWITCH SYSTEMS is dedicated to providing reliable, proven equipment to meet your cross-connection needs. Your purchase, however, buys you more than just equipment. We provide ALL the training you need plus ANY backup support required. We are always ready to answer your questions and solve your problems. Remote Switch Systems is committed to reliable systems and excellence in service.

The Intelligent Copper-Cross-Connect System (IC3S) by Remote Switch Systems, Inc. is an entirely new technology. For the first time, electronic circuits on printed circuit boards achieve any-to-any, non-blocking cross-connections in a telecommunications or data network environment. Expand your IC3S configuration to meet your needs simply by adding ACE modules. While cable records are typically 30 percent inaccurate, the real-time database of IC3S ensures 100 percent accuracy.

INTELLIGENT COPPER-CROSS-CONNECT SYSTEM (IC3S)
The Intelligent Copper-Cross-Connect System (IC3S) is a loop management product that enables network managers to remotely control copper pair infrastructures and achieve full non-blocking, any-to-any connectivity of electronic connections in the Automated Cross-Connect Electronics (ACE) hardware. You decide where to place the ACE Hardware; in the central office, outside plant or customer premise locations. Eliminate the human resource cost and also reduce the cost per cross-connect. All of this and the added bonus of advanced performance. An operator of the WWW based ACE Pilot software can make or change cross-connections, of copper cable pair through the IC3S server, from anywhere.

LOW-COST AUTOMATED, ANY TO ANY CONNECTIVITY

The IC3S system consists of the ACE Pilot software and the ACE cross-connect hardware. Costly manual cross-connect tasks are automated through the intelligence of ACE Pilot software and the sophistication of ACE hardware. The ACE hardware is placed by the telephone service provider in the central office, outside plant or customer premise locations. ACE connections are controlled remotely, without the need for onsite manual cross-connect activity.

Features Benefits
Designed in 1000 pair modules Maximum cable flexibility
Each 1000 pair module is controlled by a single pair (two pair provided for redundancy) Promotes better human resource use
Mechanical latching relays ensure that existing cross-connects remain intact even if control pair is lost Facilitates testing and isolation of cable pair faults from remote maintenance centers
Unit only draws power when making or breaking cross-connects Maintains 100% accuracy of facility records

TECHNOLOGICALLY SUPERIOR CROSS CONNECTIONS

The IC3S system is an electronically controlled, remotely actuated metallic physical layer cross-connect system for copper twisted pairs.

A cross-connect on the IC3S is remotely actuated from the ACE Pilot software. This makes it unnecessary to send personnel to serving area interfaces , aerial closures, pedestal points, building terminals and distribution frames to install or remove a cross-connect. For this reason, the IC3S system provides an exceptionally cost-effective method of performing cross-connects, particularly in unmanned locations, such as: controlled environmental vaults (CEV), HUTS and remote central offices. The IC3S system is ideal in areas where there are frequent changes to the network, such as: industrial parks, medical clinics, apartment complexes, retirement homes, marinas, local area networks (LAN) and other applications in which circuits are being changed frequently.

ACE Pilot Software

The ACE Pilot software maintains an 100% accurate inventory of cross-connections for the all ICS equipment that it controls. The system communicates with the ICS via a modem over the public switched telephone network.  The following functions can be performed:

The procedures for assigning a cross-connect from the software are designed to be simple and straight forward. These procedures are described in detail in the ICS User’s and Administrator’s manuals. The following is a brief summary of the options available to the operator.

ASSIGN : make or break a cross-connection immediately or at a specified time, mark a pair as cut through, mark an output pair as defective

EXCEPTION: mark an input pair as being defective, enter an explanation, view input connectivity

MAINTENANCE : attach a test condition to an input pair or temporarily break a cross-connect for testing purposes

REPORTS : display or print connection reports on: assigned, exception, maintenance conditioned and spare pairs

HELP : With the F1 function key, full-featured help is always available to aid the operator.

The ICS switch card contains double-pole, single-throw, latching relays. These relays maintain contact without any supplied power. Non-blocking switch architecture (connect any input to any output) cross-connect system for copper twisted pairs. This makes it unnecessary to send personnel to aerial closures, pedestals or any other network distribution point to install or remove a cross-connect. For this reason, the IC3S system provides an exceptionally cost-effective method of performing cross-connects and increasing the utilization of copper twisted pair distribution facilities, particularly in remote locations and environmentally unsafe areas.

The ICS system is ideal in areas where maximum utilization of distribution facilities are needed or there are frequent changes to the network, such as: industrial parks, medical clinics, apartment complexes, retirement homes, marinas, local area networks (LAN) and other applications in which circuits are being changed frequently.
No battery backup is required to maintain connections

APPLICATIONS

The IC3S system is designed to be compatible with the physical, procedural and administrative environments of a telephone or data operating network.  Because cross-connect activity and cable troubleshooting are remotely controlled, using the IC3S system is particularly ideal for SAIs, CEVs, aerial closures, HUTs, remote or unmanned central offices, hazardous area, and controlled or otherwise inaccessible cross-connect sites.  The IC3S system is also desirable in many commercial applications, including local area networks (LAN) and other applications in which circuits are frequently changed.

The ACE Pilot software in a central control point can access any number of remote connection sites. By utilizing the IC3S system, network rearrangements take seconds not hours and therefore become dramatically more productive.
